Loss

The loss of a loved one is hard enough but when it is a spouse of 39+ years, it is pretty devastating. That's why I needed a break. There are still a lot of things to deal with and get thru but I am doing a little each day.

Today I went out with my art group up into the mountains looking for wild flowers. I'd much rather draw animals, people, buildings, but the wild flowers will all be gone shortly as it gets hotter. It's at the end of their season already.

We found a shady area to pull off and took a bunch of photos, did a little sketching, went to my friends house on a cattle ranch to have our lunch and make a pit stop, then made our way home. The day was beautiful, sunny, a little nippy in the shade but just about a perfect day to be out and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

I fit all my sketches into the categories for the scavenger hunt. Here are my sketches for the day.

Jeanne, loss is indeed hard. I know on several levels firsthand. My thoughts are with you. Hopefully your art will ease some of the pain.

Jeanne: I just saw Dizzy on your blog. I too have a Westie. His name is Winston. My sister has one named Raleigh and my next door neighbor has one named Maggie. I love Westies, they are so much fun.

So sorry for your loss Jeanne. I think it is times like this when art (and friends) are especially important.

We could do with your California weather here in the UK. Our Spring flowers are a month late because of the harsh Winter. Although the sun is shining today, it isn't pleasant enough to sit outside for any length of time :o)

Jeanne - I know this is such a hard time for you. I'm glad you went out with your painting friends. Their companionship will be good for you. You've been in my thoughts a lot.

Jeanne, I am glad that you can even find the desire to paint right now, I can't imagine what you are going through! I am praying for you and thinking of you daily.

Jeanne - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

You two had a really long marriage which in this day and age is quite some achievement. You must be feeling a pretty big gap in your life right now. It sounds as if it's still difficult to talk about.

Big Hugs - and I wish I were there to deliver them personally.
