Artist and Student ATC Trade

A teacher posted on Facebook that she would like artists to volunteer for a one-on-one trade of an atc with her students.  I agreed.  I did a picture of a dog from a photo by Andy Mathes, a photographer/veterinarian and used with his permission.

The dog is Bruno.  I did a picture of him when he was just a puppy.  He was a cute little thing that looked so sad.  Her is looking more grown up now.  I love his face and enjoy doing his portrait even if it is so small.  And I so much appreciate Andy Mathes for taking such great photos of his clients.  It is so fun to see his clients from the time they are in for their first puppy shots, thru until they grow up.  And so many breeds of dogs and cats.

This is an ATC (2.5x3.5 inches) and done with colored pencil and ink.

Jeb

I did this painting of Jeb who is a bloodhound. This was done from a photo by Andy Mathis on Facebook of Jeb's first vet appointment. He is a veterinarian and has a vast supply of models to choose from.

I overworked this painting and will probably do it again in future. I have another ref shot to use if I don't want to repeat the same one. He is a beautiful dog and I hope in future, Andy will take a recent photo of him. I would love to see how big and beautiful this dog has become. I love how the photo shows Jeb's future character. The "tired" look that a bloodhound has. Like he is so totally worn out and couldn't move if the house was on fire.

The painting is done in watercolor with some added pen and ink and colored pencil. It is about 11x14 inches on watercolor paper. I may just have to do it in graphite next time.

Thank you Jeb for the pose and cuteness, and thank you Andy for the photo ref and letting me use it.

Painting of Taz

Here is the watercolor painting I did of Taz. I couldn't resist his beautiful face. The watercolor paper it is on is probably 11x14 inches and Arches.

Elliott

This is Elliott. His photo was one that was provided by Valri for the Wetcanvas WDE this week. I believe that he has passed. This was done in watercolor with some micron pen. ATC size.

I have been playing around with pen and ink plus watercolor. I want to be able to use a medium that goes a little faster than cps. I still love doing cp but sometimes I just want to do something quickly. I have been known to put cps over watercolor. I like combining the two. But this time I wanted to try watercolor with pen.

I have done two others in the same way. One of my hand and one of my lab Penny asleep on my bed. These are also ATC size and will go to participants in my new Wetcanvas project.

My Babies

My fur babies. I just learned I can do videos on my camera. I met a couple when with my plein air group at a park and the man showed me how to do the videos. Now I have something else to play with. As you can tell, I'm not a "read the manual" kind of person. I had my first digital camera for about 5 years before I found out how to do macro photos. I guess I didn't learn anything from that.
